Reliability and quality underpin the
Longridge philosophy
Established
over 20 years, we understand our customers and what they
need from a mountcutter.
Design innovation is at the core of every Longridge Mountcutting
System.
All British manufacturing ensures our products meet the
highest standards of workmanship - Britain at its manufacturing
best!
2007 has seen us introduce significant improvements to both the ranges and details of our Mount Cutter Systems. The new Trio System range was lauched in March 2007. It is offered in the Trio and Trio Plus sizes and has all the facilities of the Duo System range but with the added efficiency of scaled control of window cutting, especially suitable for repetitive work.
The Bevel Cutter has been revised and the new version is now in all our Systems. We have had lots of requests for a V-groover but rather than introduce a new tool, we have developed the Bevel Cutter so that it now performs V-groove cutting as well as conventional bevel edged windows, which means that V-grooving now comes for free! In addition, the new version Bevel Cutter is also designed to cut card apertures, making it a very useful cutter indeed.
We have revised and expanded the instructions enclosed with all our Mountcutting Systems and these are now on an instruction DVD. This has allowed us to add several languages (French, German, Italian and Spanish) as well to add a chapter on advanced cutting techniques.
Towards the end of last year, we introduced the Duo Mini Mountcutter System, a shortened model in the Duo System range, for cutting smaller mountboard and for card work. The Solo range now has a Solo mini version as well, introduced in January this year.At
Longridge, we are committed to providing quality products
that are designed for purpose and manufactured to the
highest engineering specifications.
Our Longridge History
Longridge have been established in the framing business
for over 20 years and we know just about every model and
make of cutter that has been on the market in that time. By 2002 we felt that the mountcutters currently available
were simply not good enough. The framing trade was well
served with a range of excellent products but at prices
way beyond being acceptable for those outside the trade.
Tools to cut mounts for the DIY markets were woefully
inadequate, required much practice, considerable pressure
(even brute force), dexterity and much patience to achieve
just mediocre results. There were a few exceptions of
course, but in general cutting your own bevel edged window
apertures was always a challenge and a job that was usually
put off until the last moment! We felt we could offer
something better - so we did!
In 2003 we brought out our new Solo and Duo Systems. From
our experience of selling mountcutters and before that
in the picture framing world, we designed our range of
mountcutters so that every component is integral to the
overall concept and works perfectly with every other component.
Meticuluous attention to detail has ensured that every
component is as good as it can be in terms of design,
size, material and production specification.
In 2004, we added the Duo Plus to
the range to meet the requirement for a bigger mountcutter
capable of handling A0 mountboard sheet (shortways).
We always aim to listen to our customers and so, in response
to their requests, introduced the Duo Mini in January
2006 to meet requests for. This newest member
of the family is particularly suitable for the hobbyist
with limited workspace as well as being ideal for card
makers.
What we believe about design and manufacturing
Innovative design is the key to Longridge mountcutters
but any design is only as good as its manufacturing. We
therefore take great pains to ensure that every component
is produced within tolerance using the most suitable materials
for the job. Every part of every Longridge product is
manufactured in the UK, making it easy for us to oversee
production standards.
Since the design of our mountcutting systems reflects
a complete concept in how mountcutters should be built,
there is a high level of flexibility and interchangeablity
within the systems. For example, if you initially buy
a Solo System but subsequently decide that the ability
to cut mountboard to size would be an advantage, then
simply buy the extra components of the Duo and all will
work perfectly. Equally if you have a Duo but find you
need the size of the Duo Plus, then you need just to
buy the Base and Guide Rail of the Duo Plus.
Spare parts
There is nothing more annoying than having a perfectly
good piece of equipment rendered useless by the loss
of a key component. For this reason, we endeavour to
supply spare parts for all our mountcutters. Whether
it is Stop that has got lost or a Rail that has been
damaged, we can (usually) help.
Of course, spare components are also needed for upgrading
or if you want to cut multiple windows in a mount, in
which case you may well find extra pairs of cutter stops
helpful.
Service
Service is the final requirement for any good product
and we do our best to make sure that our excellent product
range is supported by personal and expeditious service.
Once you have made a decision to purchase a product, you
naturally want it without delay. We handle all orders
personally and guarantee despatch within 7 days though
normally we do much better than that, frequently despatching
orders next working day.
We offer fully secure online ordering which is the quickest
way of getting an order to us. If however, you prefer
not to order online, for whatever reason,
just telephone us with your credit or debit card details
and we will process the order for you.
If you have any queries about which mountcutter is right
for you, or why we believe our mountcutters are so much
better than everything else, then we are always delighted
to talk to our customers on the phone or by email if you
prefer.
The office is normally open from Monday - Friday and is
answered in person (no buttons to press!). At all other
times there is a 24 hour answerphone service where you
can leave messages to which we will respond.
We do have a number of specialists
retailers who stock Longridge
mountcutters and we also exhibit
at several photographic and craft
exhibitions throughout the year.
Please contact us if you would like details of your
nearest retailer or if we shall be exhibiting in your
area.
