The blade will stay sharp longer if treated with care.
As a guide, one blade should be able to cut a minimum
of 20 mounts comfortably. If the bevel edge appears
slightly ragged, this is usually an early indication
that the blade needs changing. Spare blades are available
on the accessories page. Click here for spare blades.
Q The cut is showing beyond the corner of the window
This is caused by overcutting, which means the blade
depth is set too deep for the mountboard being cut.
Turn the screw a quarter turn clockwise and test on
some spare mountboard of the same thickness as your
mount. Repeat the adjustment if necessary.
Q The window is failing to drop out when I have cut
it
This is caused by undercutting, that is the blade depth
is not great enough for the mountboard. Turn the screw
a quarter turn anticlockwise and test on a spare piece
of mountboard. Repeat the adjustment if necessary.
The blade depth is factory set for use with standard thickness
mountboard but may need adjusting if different mountboard
is used, for example conservation quality mountboard is
normally thicker than standard mountboard.
Q How do I adjust the blade
It is better to start with the blade depth too shallow
and gradually lower the blade. Details of adjusting the
blade depth are given in the instruction booklet.
Longridge Mountcutters are different
use one once and you'll wonder why all mountcutting systems aren't made
this way.
